We had Daddy's funeral Thursday. It still hasn't completely "hit me" that he's gone. There really wasn't time to think about it. Just after the funeral we went to my cousin's house in Lufkin for the night to decide what to do/where to go to avoid the hurricane. It was too late to catch flights back to NC.
We went back to Nederland Friday morning to stay with my brother and his wife. The storm didn't do as predicted but we were safe and unharmed. There was flooding all around us but we were not flooded. There was a very good reason over 2 million people were told to evacuate! Pray for the victims of the hurricane when you think of them.
Another of my brothers arrived Saturday with his wife and 14 mo. old daughter. They are from Norway so they were as homeless as us. :) After 2 1/2 days with 14 people in a 3 bedroom house with one bathroom and no electricity, we were happy to head to the Houston airport this morning. My brother did have a generator and window A/C unit so we were in a palace compared to most around there. He even has a gas stove and water heather so we ate hot food and took hot showers.
Thank you for all the calls, emails, cards, etc. I'm sorry I have not replied. This is my first time on the computer since last Wednesday.
To see more details about our week and Daddy's funeral, go to my brother Shawn's blog or his wife Heather's blog. They've been home longer than I have so they've posted more.
Good night!
