Our unit celebration for this unit was a field trip to Greensboro. We spent the morning touring a castle. (I use the term only because that's what the owner calls it.) It was quite a memory for many reasons. Suffice it to say that there was a moat around the building and some "old decorations" inside.

The fun part was panning for gems. Amazingly enough, everyone found gems! E is showing off one of her new treasures.

After lunch we visited the International Civil Rights Museum in downtown Greensboro. It's located in the old Woolworth store where the first "sit in" occured during the civil rights movement. The original counter and stools are still in place on the original floor. We enjoyed the museum. It's well worth the time to visit. They did not allow photography so I didn't take my camera.
It's very exciting to know that we've almost finished four years of history and will begin with the ancient world again in the fall. I am so thankful that God put Eve Nemitz in my path 5 years ago to introduce me to Tapestry of Grace. Our home schooling experience has been so much richer because of the curriculum and our co-op!
