Candy from When I Was A Kid

Do you have a friend who always seems to send a card or gift at the time you least expect it? You know, the friend who has a knack for surprising you? Well, I have a friend like that. I can look around my house and see her fingerprints. There's the plaque hanging in my bedroom from my 32nd birthday. (We had only met a few times but she was part of our core group at the church plant in Virginia Beach.) Then a few months later she hosted a baby shower for me. We still have the stuffed ABC Bear she gave me. It has been loved by all 4 of our kids. Oh, and there's the Christmas Cactus she gave me when the Navy was moving them. Well, she did it again this week.

Tuesday afternoon when we arrived home from running errands, a box was on our front porch. We quickly discovered it was another birthday gift for Sabrina. The kids were excited to see that she had received a box of candy full of candies she ate as a kid in the 70's.

Okay, so it wasn't THAT long ago when I was a kid. At least they still make the candy from then!

And just who had sent it? My dear friend, Terry Alvarado. (Of course, she signed Ruben and the boys' names too but I know who took the time to send it.:) I am still being reminded of how blessed I am with friends all over the world. We love the Alvarados and can't wait for y'all to get back on our side of the ocean! (In the meantime, we're quite thankful for Ruben's service to our country!)
