Bound for Ethiopia - No Ordinary Love, Bethel House and Korah

Friday morning we headed out to the Emmanuel House of No Ordinary Love.  We heard the story of how this ministry was started then we went outside in the drizzling rain to play with the kids.  We also met some of the men and women who invest in these kids on a daily basis.  No Ordinary Love exists to reunite street children with their families through intensive counseling and getting involved in their lives.

Any place is a good place to kick a soccer ball!

Hannah from ND was showing off her skills.  :)

Beza loved the kittens.

We enjoyed some tasty burgers and fries at a local restaurant, Sishu, before heading to H4H's Bethel house.  Hope for the Hopeless (H4H)  is a child development program begun by Pastor Surafel Gebretsadik in 1993 to support the growth and development of street children and orphans in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The program has grown into a non-profit organization managed both in the United States and by local staff in Ethiopia.

More soccer fun even though the field was too muddy for a real game.

This is where Beza lives when she is not with the teams.  We met her friends and saw her room.

The Bethel house is a very nice facility.  This is where the kids live who have been in their program for more than a year.

We walked down the road to play soccer but the field was too muddy.

Some typical sights around town while walking down the streets.

This young lady was smiling the entire time we were there.  She loved to give us hugs and we loved giving them back!  Amy was a great hug giver and hug receiver!

Since the soccer field was too muddy, we stayed in the courtyard of the house.  The soccer ball eventually became used as a volleyball over the clothes line.  Always creative!

One of the leaders took me up on the roof to take some photos.  This is the outside of the house.  I love all the windows and how the inside is bright from the sunshine.

On our way back to the Life Center, we stopped by the shelter so I could see where Temeche lives.

Bira (you'll hear more about him later) helped me find a lady in Korah whom I met two years ago.  I've had her photo as my cell phone wallpaper all this time.  She had just had surgery so I was thankful to find her home and on the road to recovery.

We stopped in Korah to see Robel's home and meet his family.  Temeche and Amy are with him outside the house.

Robel's mom made coffee for our team.  I stayed outside since I didn't want any coffee.  It was the first time many of our team members had been inside one of the homes.

We had dinner at the Life Center then a team meeting before calling it a night.
