The home school support group to which we belong hosts an International Fair each year. I've wanted to participate in the past but felt like our children were too young. This year, however, I approached H about it and she was very excited to be able to make a display. She chose Norway because of my brother and his family living there.
All the families (about 12 this year) participating bring a main dish and dessert (and any sides they choose) for a "pot luck" dinner before the presentations.
We made Royalty Cake (Fyrestekaka) for our dessert. It was quite yummy! Rumor has it that Uncle John loves it too.
We made Gravlax for our main dish. Dad loves this!
We encouraged the kids to try some of the other foods.
H tried a few things but it was only knowing that she could have more dessert.
B tried a few things too. Unwillingly, but he tried them.
E will try most anything!
C is just happy being C!
H stood at our display to give out Norway "stamps" for passports. (The event organizers provided blank passports for the kids to get "stamped" at each "country" i.e. display.)
The display. We also had the viking puzzle Grammy gave them and the stuffed moose with the flag on his ear. Thank you, Aunt Anne Grethe, for sending the fun photos for us to use. "The big rock" got everyone's attention! (If you can zoom in, read H's comments for the photos. :)
Once they had visited all the countries, they all came back to our display to pass out stickers.
It was a fun evening. Now that we know what to expect, we can look forward to next year. There's already discussion as to which country they will choose.

Excellent job on your board. I think Uncle John also needs his head examined on that picture where he is jumping up on that big rock. You did a great job. I feel like I have just been to Norway again after reading all your remarks. Maybe someday you and I can see Norway together. We can walk that long street to the palace. Good job again.
Love,
Grammy
